Even Jesus did not do stupid things to test God, His father. Matthew chapter 4:4-7 states:

Jesus never walked around with established body guards, only disciples and hoards of people who followed him as he travelled, and where ever he stayed the doors and windows were never described as being locked and guards standing by to protect him. There were leaders in government and church who for some time while he was going around healing and preaching wanted to cause him harm but feared all those that followed him. I agree with you, for someone who displays the utmost faith such as the pope, why then are body guards, bullet proof glass and locked doors necessary? As much as he loves god and fears not death, then why go through all that? Look at evangelists, they're the same. Benny Hinn walks around with a couple of goons in his entourage. Surely, the church will put a different spin on it...but it's a joke.
