Why do some people think shows such as The Simpsons & Family guy are children's shows?

I mean, really. Why do they assume they kids shows?

violence, language, adult humor.... (but family guy overdoes it too much)

So... what's the reason? Is it just because they are animated?

Because many people are STILL under the misconception that "animated" automatically means, "made for children"

They've obviously never watched anime or read manga or experienced graphic-novels which are clearly written ONLY for adults.

because all they see is that they're cartoons
I grew up watching The Simpsons. I'm now 20 years old. I don't drink, smoke, party, I don't even drink caffeine!

We watched it as a family because everyone enjoyed it. My brother was seven years older than me so it was hard to find something that everyone enjoyed doing. That show brought us together every night after dinner.
No its because parents dont preview the shows first, and monitor what their kids watch. Meaning, they aren't involved in their kids lives to really dont know whats going on.

Simpsons/Family Guy/Futurama/American Dad

All these are 14+ older with adult approval to watch.
People are stupid.
